Terms of Service

Last updated: May 18, 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Unclause (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What Unclause does

Unclause is an AI-powered document analysis service. You upload a document — such as a lease, employment contract, insurance policy, or loan agreement — and the Service returns a plain-language summary, identifies potentially problematic clauses, extracts key dates, and generates ready-to-send negotiation messages.

Analysis quality depends on document legibility, the capabilities of the underlying AI model, and the nature of the document itself. Results may vary.

3. Not legal advice

Unclause is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

All analysis produced by the Service is for informational purposes only. Nothing in the output constitutes legal advice, and it should not be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified, licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

You should always consult a licensed legal professional before signing any legally binding document, especially when significant financial, employment, or personal obligations are involved.

Unclause makes no representations or warranties that any analysis is accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific legal situation.

4. AI limitations

The Service uses large language models to analyze documents. AI systems can make mistakes, misinterpret language, miss important context, or produce outputs that are factually incorrect. We strongly recommend independently verifying any information provided by the Service, particularly for high-stakes documents.

The presence of a “Safe to sign” verdict does not mean a document is risk-free. The absence of flagged clauses does not mean the document is fair or appropriate for your situation.

5. Acceptable use

You may only upload documents that you have the legal right to share and analyze. You agree not to:

  • Upload documents that contain third-party confidential information you are not authorized to disclose
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service's infrastructure
  • Upload malicious files intended to compromise the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.

6. Your content

You retain all rights to the documents you upload and the analysis output generated from them.

By uploading a document, you grant Unclause a limited, non-exclusive license to process and store it solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

We do not use your documents to train AI models. Documents are stored encrypted at rest and are never shared with third parties, except as required to operate the Service (e.g., transmission to the AI model provider for analysis).

7. Data retention and deletion

Documents and analyses are retained in your account until you delete them or close your account.

If you delete your account, your documents will be permanently deleted within 30 days. You may request immediate deletion at any time by contacting us.

8. Plans and billing

New accounts receive 1 free analysis credit upon registration. No credit card is required to create an account.

Additional credits are available as one-time purchases with no subscription:

  • Single: 1 analysis for $3
  • Pack: 5 analyses for $10
  • Bundle: 20 analyses for $25

Purchased credits do not expire and are non-refundable, except where an analysis fails due to a server or AI error. In that case, the credit is automatically returned to your balance.

Billing is processed by our authorized payment provider, who handles all payment processing and applicable tax collection on our behalf.

9. Intellectual property

Unclause retains all rights to the Service itself, including the web application, backend systems, AI prompts, and brand assets. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of any part of the Service to you.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unclause disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that analysis results will be accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Unclause and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or reliance on the Service, including but not limited to:

  • Losses resulting from signing a document based on analysis provided by the Service
  • Losses due to inaccurate or incomplete analysis
  • Service unavailability or data loss

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Unclause in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unclause and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Unclause operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
